Southeastern Green Network (SoGreen Network) is a grassroots non-profit that focuses on agriculture and forestry and the role that under-served farmers and landowner in these industries play in creating a green agenda specifically in the Southeast. The organization is dedicated to bringing this group to the table when regional sustainable plans are being developed and ensuring training, education and support are provided during the process. SoGreen Network is an active coalition building organization. Our goal is to partner with all organizations/agencies and community members that understand the importance of sustainable agriculture as an environmental changer, local food access and urban agricultural systems as a way to reduce our carbon footprint and improve our quality of food, climate change and its relation to alternative fuel production, and the need to prepare our youth for the "green agenda"
Our "Green Up Your Campus Initiative" focuses on involving our 1890 Land Grants in this regional process. And for them to explore how best they can re-embrace the original design of the 1890 Land Grant which historically was to work with their farmers and landowners and their local community as partners. And how today through the use of that partnership arrangement to address the issues of environmental sustainability.
